Ch Ch Ch Changes...

Well, yesterday I had my initial examination by my new primary physician, Dr. Jennifer Young; Dr. Young also happens to be my husband Bob's doctor. Though she will not be the physician monitoring my SLL, Dr. Young should be a good choice as my primary physician since she previously specialized in blood cancers at Stanford University; this past experience will provide her with a full understanding of my health challenges. Though we discussed all of the details of my health history yesterday, particularly since my SLL diagnosis; the primary purpose of our visit was for me to obtain a referral to a new hematologist/oncologist to monitor my cancer. I have been referred to Dr. Lawrence Kaplan at the University of California - San Francisco. Dr. Kaplan is the director of the Lymphoma Program at the Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center at UCSF, and is a specialist in the treatment of SLL/CLL. I should be in very good hands. As I had hoped, it is Dr. Young's belief that Dr. Kaplan will likely perform additional diagnostics to learn more about the nature of my particular case of SLL, as well as performing an updated CT Scan to determine the progression of the disease in the last year (or what will be a year by the time I have my first appointment with him). I'm looking forward to the change!
